Public sector projects performance helps Horisk win Best Small Business at 2023 Fife Business Awards

An excellent record of delivering easy-to-use, secure and accessible online platforms for high-profile public sector projects has helped Fife web consultancy Horisk Leslie Development win the Small Business award at the 2023 Fife Business Awards.

Our Fife web consultancy was named the winner of the award, sponsored by Cireco Scotland, at the ceremony at the Old Course Hotel, St Andrews, on May 19.

Impressive track record

Horisk’s entry was largely based on its record in recent years of delivering easy-to-use, secure and accessible online platforms for large-scale public sector organisations and keeping them as customers.

They include the Sustainable Procurement Tools platform for Scottish Procurement, the ScotWind evaluation platform for Crown Estate Scotland, the Community Benefits platform for the Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Region Deal and an online system for the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator which is the sole channel to apply for charitable status in Scotland.

It also talked about Horisk’s Hallpad university accommodation booking and management product, which has been added to the UK-wide G-Cloud Framework, and its success in providing technically robust and secure systems. Horisk’s highly personal and cost-effective service has helped it secure a number of prestigious clients over the years and keep them as customers - impressive for a company of any size.

Horisk has also been bringing its experience to bear in consultancy and developing bespoke systems for SMEs - including a quoting system for a manufacturer, a full business management system for a logistics company and bespoke ecommerce for a software platform.

Judges’ comments

In announcing Horisk as the winner of the Small Business award, the judges described Horisk as being “overall impressive with a clear focus on increasing turnover and profitability in a sustainable manner.”

Accepting the award alongside fellow Director Iain Leslie and the rest of the team, Managing Director Brian Horisk, said: “I’m really proud and grateful to win the Small Business Award at the Fife Business Awards. We’ve built this business organically over 20 years and it’s great to get this recognition from our peers in the Fife business community.

“I’d like to thank our brilliant team - whose innovation and dedication has been essential to our success - and all our customers, large and small, whose trust in us to deliver business-critical systems has been vital to our growth over the years.”

Horisk has been a Finalist in previous years’ Fife Business Awards as well as The Courier Business Awards, The Herald Scottish Digital Awards, but this is the first time the team has gone home the winner in their category.
